Terms of Service
Draft for review. Last updated October 4, 2026. These terms have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and may change before Checkpulse opens to the public.
These terms govern your use of Checkpulse, a heartbeat monitoring service operated by Checkpulse ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you use Checkpulse for an organization, you confirm you may accept these terms on its behalf.
1. The service
Checkpulse receives pings from your scheduled jobs and other systems, and sends alerts through the channels you configure when expected pings do not arrive or report failures. Checkpulse is currently offered free of charge as a public test ("beta"). Features, limits, and availability may change, and we may end the beta at any time.
2. No guarantee of alerts
Checkpulse is a tool to help you notice problems; it is not a guarantee that you will. Alerts can be delayed or lost, for example because of outages of Checkpulse, its hosting provider, email or messaging providers, or your own systems and network. Do not rely on Checkpulse as the only safeguard for systems where a missed alert could cause harm to people, significant financial loss, or loss of data. You remain responsible for your systems and for monitoring them appropriately.
3. Accounts
- Provide accurate information and keep your password, two-factor device, ping URLs, and API keys secure. You are responsible for activity under your account and keys.
- You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live, to create an account.
- One person may hold one free account. Do not create accounts to get around limits.
- Tell us promptly at [contact email not yet configured] if you suspect unauthorized use.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Checkpulse to send spam or unwanted messages, or add alert destinations you are not allowed to message;
- send content that is unlawful, infringes others' rights, or contains malware;
- attempt to access other users' data, probe or overload the service, bypass rate limits or account limits, or interfere with its security;
- use webhooks or integrations to attack, scan, or flood third-party systems;
- resell the service or use it to build a competing service without our permission.
We may suspend or remove accounts, channels, or content that break these rules or put the service or others at risk.
5. Limits
Free accounts are subject to limits on projects, checks, channels, members, API keys, request rates, history, and email alerts, shown in the documentation and your account page. We may change limits. Requests over a limit may be rejected or delayed.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of the data you send to Checkpulse, including check names, runbooks, and ping output ("your content"). You give us permission to store, process, and transmit your content only as needed to run, secure, and improve the service and to deliver alerts to the destinations you choose. Do not send secrets or personal data in ping output unless you need to. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.
7. AI agents and automation
You may connect AI agents and other software to Checkpulse with API keys. You are responsible for what they do with your keys. Ping output is untrusted content written by your jobs; it is your responsibility to decide how your automation treats it.
8. Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service; where reasonable we will give notice so you can export your data.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or business, arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including missed or delayed alerts. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD 50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and, for material changes, notify account holders by email or in the dashboard. Continuing to use Checkpulse after changes take effect means you accept them.
12. Governing law
[To be completed: governing law and venue.]
